چکیده

A software defined ZigBee receiver has been designed, implemented and tested with a commercially available offthe-shelf ZigBee transceiver. This system is based on the software defined system-in-package (SIP) platform by Harris Corporation (Melbourne, Florida, USA). This platform is equipped with a high-resolution analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and four Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGAs. An alldigital phase-locked loop (PLL) and ZigBee demodulator have been created to operate inside the FPGAs. The ZigBee medium access control layer is also implemented inside an FPGA to allow the system to recover the commercial ZigBee signals. A simple RF front-end is composed of commercially available off-the-shelf components chosen for this system. This work permits a large portion of the RF and IF hardware chain, as well as the physical layer and medium access control layer, to be reconfigured inside the FPGAs. A streaming video source emanating from the XBee ZigBee transceiver is demonstrated on the SIP in real time.

Maximum likelihood carrier phase synchronization in FPGA-based software defined radios

Digital signal processing techniques are applied to maximum likelihood carrier phase synchronization for QPSK and QAM in an all-digital sampled data receiver. To achieve the flexibility required by modern Software Defined Radios (SDR’s), this task must either be performed in a DSP processor (reconfigurable software) or in an FPGA (reconfigurable hardware). This paper describes the design proces...

FPGA-based Implementation of Multiple PHY Layers of IEEE 802.15.4 Targeting SDR Platform

While SDR platforms become more and more accessible to a large community of researchers with affordable prices, open source FPGA-based implementation of wireless communication systems are still not available. This paper presents an open source FPGA-based design of IEEE 802.15.4 PHY Layers developed in the context of a new SDR testbed named FIT/CorteXlab. We propose a VHDL implementation of the ...

IEEE 802.15.4 transceiver for the 868/915 MHz band using Software Defined Radio

This paper reports an implementation of the PHY specifications of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard for the frequency band 868/915 MHz on a Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform. This standard is defined for low power, low data rate and low cost wireless networks. These specifications are used by the Zigbee technology for various applications such as home automation, industry monitoring or medical sur...
